There is a story in the scriptures of a man with a problem he lacks the knowledge to solve.

As humans, we sometimes find these types of circumstances embarrassing. Admitting we don’t know. Acknowledging we are less than perfect. That we don’t have it all figured out (whatever “it” is).

But this man finds relief in knowing he has somewhere to go with his questions. He takes them to the Lord. And in a twist, the Lord places them back on him. “What would you have me do? You brainstorm a solution and I will help.”

I remember discussing with a friend which scriptural principle came first: faith, hope, or charity. It felt like hope in something greater could help someone feel a desire to gain greater faith. But faith causes someone to feel hopeful and want to do good. And now ten years later, the answer settled in my brain all because of college football.

As long you are moving with Christ by your side and allowing Him to teach you what it means to be a member of His Father’s eternal Family, then the path, uphill and downhill, is doing its job. More time on the path means more time to learn from and be lifted by Christ. And ultimately the more of Him we have, the further we climb because He is all of the power and strength in us (Philippians 4:13).
