misty-eyed over angela.
With the first snowstorm of the season sprinkling flakes outside, I needed something cozy and Christmasy to fill the empty spaces of the house this morning. I put in a DVD (yes, DVD! I am bringing them back!) of Angela Lansbury performing with the Choir at Temple Square for Christmas back in 2001. As I put on makeup and got dressed, she was performing “We Need a Little Christmas.” Afterward, she told stories about being in Bed Knobs and Broomsticks, Beauty and the Beast, and Murder She Wrote. Right this moment, as I am typing this, she is starting to sing “Beauty and the Beast” and chills are going up my legs and arms. And this is when the little wisps of tears start. Because the older I get the more she is a part of my childhood and adulthood. And the cherry on top? I found out that my grandma, who passed away when I was a teenager, loved Murder She Wrote. Just like I do. What more can I say? Angela, thank you for filling my heart with cozy, beginning-of-winter comfort. And for being a bridge of connection between me and my grandma. Wishing you all a snowy December from my cozy mountain home!
