a reminder you always get redos.

My office is an odd little thing. Two windows, nine walls, two doors, three shelves. But its oddness has created a canvas for a cozy retreat where my creativity can be either fed or expressed. And the Christmas lights and touches sprinkled throughout have created an even more lovely hobbit hole to escape to. My bedroom, on the other hand, has felt cold. Even with the Christmas candles and Christmas tree…something felt off. I decorated a month ago. But living in it exaggerated its offness.

So I gave myself permission to redo the decorations. Not completely. But move the tree, rearrange some lights and candles. Refresh it, right in the middle of the season. So on came the Christmas movie (Holiday Inn with Bing Crosby, all the black and white charm of Christmas) and I got to work. Tweeking, adjusting, moving, and removing.

All this is a gentle reminder to you and me; you don’t have to wait until certain times to readjust and refresh. Redos are always on the table, no matter the day or season. Today is the perfect day to start ____________. It doesn’t mean you will be perfect. It doesn’t mean that you will be suddenly consistent tomorrow and next week. But today is always the right day to start. Just keep redoing and restarting. Again and again. Redos are a blessing.

And now, my bedroom makes me feel warm and relaxed when I come home after a busy day. Hooray for redos!
